This mobile app for Stop Hate UK was designed to be a powerful tool in the fight against street harassment. As a Leeds-based charity committed to creating safer, more inclusive public spaces, they needed an app that was not only functional but also accessible and impactful.
The design features a sleek black, white, and red colour palette, with red drawing attention to critical actions like capturing and reporting incidents. The interface is intuitive, with simple icons for photo, video, and audio recording, making it easy for users to document evidence in real time. The layout prioritizes user-friendliness, ensuring fast and stress-free navigation even in challenging situations.
To ensure the app met the needs of a diverse audience, I conducted user tests with individuals from different ethnic backgrounds. This process helped refine the design to make it truly inclusive, ensuring the app addressed the challenges and perspectives of people from various communities. Their feedback guided improvements in accessibility, clarity, and usability.
Accessibility was a core focus of this project. Large buttons, high-contrast text, and a clear hierarchy ensure that the app is usable for people of all abilities. Whether you’re reporting on the go or reviewing instructions, this app makes safety and action accessible to everyone.
Stop Hate UK’s mission is to empower individuals to stand against street harassment, and this app brings that mission to life with bold design and inclusive functionality.
